After being diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, I was prescribed a medication that would change the trajectory of my life forever.  I had an adverse reaction to the medication, resulting in severe hyperpigmentation across 80% of my face. I was devastated. To make matters worse, my skin barrier was damaged, leaving me with dry, textured and dehydrated skin. 

Nothing I tried made any difference and, after months of disappointing results, I had an epiphany. It became the defining moment when I stopped looking at products and promises and started looking at formulation and ingredients.

I went on to spend every waking moment researching, learning and deep diving into the world of skincare ingredients. One might say I became obsessed. As I began to understand what my skin needed, I started making basic formulations, testing, modifying and re-testing them again and again until I slowly started to see a difference in my skin.

After 14 years in management at my corporate job, I decided to take a leap of faith and pursue my dream.
I handed in my resignation, sold our house and moved to a small community where I allowed the healing of nature and all its wonder to seep into my being.

I was home.

I partnered with a team of industry experts who helped bring my vision to life, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Now in my 60s, looking back, I started this journey thinking I needed to “fix” my skin. Instead, what changed was much bigger. I learned that slowing down, contemplation and aligning myself with nature and all its wonder became a gateway to healing and a deeper understanding of how I wanted to care for myself. Nature’s gifts became part of a path I knew I would follow for the rest of my life.

It truly has been a transformation of mind, body, soul… and skin I can feel confident in — bare.
